Animal transport: much more than just a journey

El transporte de animales: mucho más que un desplazamiento

Livestock transport is a highly regulated activity that requires planning, training, and constant attention to animal welfare.

Before starting any journey, it is necessary to check that the animals are fit for transport, prepare the vehicle correctly, and have all the documentation required by current regulations.

Every detail counts to ensure the safety of the animals and that the transfer takes place in the best possible conditions.

Vehicle Preparation

Vehicle cleaning and disinfection are fundamental steps before each load. After each transport, trailers and trucks must be washed and disinfected to ensure adequate hygienic conditions and prevent the transmission of diseases.

In addition, the vehicle must be properly prepared with a bed of straw or sawdust that provides insulation, absorbs moisture, and offers a more comfortable and safe surface for the animals during the journey.

Proper preparation contributes to improving animal welfare and reducing risks during transport.

Mandatory Documentation

All livestock transfers must be accompanied by the corresponding documentation.

This includes the Livestock Origin and Health Guide, as well as the health and identification documentation required for each movement.

These documents guarantee the traceability of the animals and allow for complete monitoring from their farm of origin to their final destination.

Proper document management is an essential part of professional and responsible livestock farming.

Training and Animal Welfare

Animal transport requires specific knowledge of animal handling and welfare.

For this reason, the individuals responsible for transport must have the necessary training and authorizations to carry out this activity properly.

During loading, transit, and unloading, it is essential to work calmly, respecting the natural behavior of the animals and avoiding situations that could generate unnecessary stress.

Experience shows that calm and respectful handling promotes both the welfare of the animals and their adaptation upon arrival at their destination.

Every Kilometer Counts

At Interdehesa, we travel thousands of kilometers each year collecting animals from different parts of Spain.

Our experience has taught us that animal welfare does not begin when the animal arrives at our facilities, but much earlier.

For this reason, we pay special attention to the preparation of each journey, the condition of the vehicles, the necessary documentation, and responsible handling throughout the transport.

Because every journey is part of our commitment to the animals, to our clients, and to the quality we seek in each phase of the process.

"Responsible transport begins long before the vehicle starts: it begins with preparation, documentation, and respect for each animal."
